Well, the visit to the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival got moved up a day. We ended up taking off work a couple of hours early and going Friday afternoon. It was pretty cool. I posted a pic of a wind sculpture by Andrew Carson and Shelly Corbett. In my opinion, they look pretty cool, just not in my yard. There was art and "art" there from every medium imaginable. My favorite was digital photography by this guy named David Mayhew. He had on display some of the most beautiful stormy sky scenes. I think what I loved the most about them was the contrast between the dark greys of the churning clouds or tornadoes and the bright colors of the landscapes or the rest of the sky at sunset. Breathtaking. If only I won the lottery, then I could have one of those beauties hanging on my wall. Heck, if I won the lottery I would take a photography class, then travel around seeking out my own scenes.

Sounds awesome! Wish I could have gone!
ReplyDeleteI went to his site. I agree, his works are truly amazing, but your pic is pretty darn good, too, even if was taken with your phone! I am so glad you took the opportunity to go to the festival.
ReplyDeleteIf it was a good pic, then it was an accident. There were a lot of people so that was the only angle I could get. Plus, I don't know the rules on taking picture of somebody else's art, so I clicked pretty fast. Although I gave them credit in my first post.
ReplyDeleteNowadays you have to blur out the image, if you don't have permission to display the object. On the HGTV decorating shows, they always do that even at the reveal.
ReplyDeleteYeah but I would think if that piece of art is the focus of the picture, then I would think it would be treated like any other piece of work, like a book, article, etc. Who knows, its been a year since I took English and I've slept since then. Hmmm, if only we had a family member that would know the exact answer... :-)
